Hollister Elementary has recently become Hollister Charter School, a new public charter school run by the community that opened its doors this fall with the approval of Filer School District.
The school is starting over as a charter school instead of a traditional district school. It is now focused on community roots, civics, agriculture, and project-based learning.
Q1. What does Hollister Elementary focus on?
Ans. Learning about health, being mindful, and social-emotional skills.
Q2. Do you have to do physical activities?
Ans. Yes, fitness challenges and activities that get you moving are part of the programs.
Q3. How do families play a role?
Ans. Parents go to wellness workshops and events in the community.
Q4. Does the school care about mental health?
Ans. Mindfulness exercises and social-emotional activities are included.
Q5. Do teachers want students to work together?
Ans. Yes, working together and doing things with friends are important all year long.
