About Rock Lake Elementary School

Rock Lake Elementary School is an intentional learning community in Orlando that mirrors the challenges and opportunities of many Elementary Schools in Florida. Rock Lake serves students in grades PK–5. The school prides itself on its small class sizes, with the approximate student-teacher ratio of 10:1, allowing for individualized attention. Rock Lake is still addressing challenges with reading proficiency. However, Rock Lake demonstrates stronger growth in math and science, which is a solid foundation. Rock Lake is a minority-majority school where nearly all students come from minority backgrounds. Furthermore, over 80% of students are economically disadvantaged, thus it requires the support of a community and some dedicated teachers to help students succeed. Despite the challenges, Rock Lake creates an environment where there is resilience, belonging, and caring. Families appreciate the dedication to providing every child with an opportunity for a quality education, which reflects the mission of Elementary Schools in Florida.
