About Hill Central Music Academy

Hill Central School, also called Hill Central Music Academy, is a public school in New Haven, Connecticut, for kids in grades PK–8. There are about 410 to 430 students and 13 students for every teacher. The school uses a music-integrated learning approach, which means that students learn the basics while also taking structured music lessons to keep them interested. There are a lot of different kinds of students, and about 96% of them are minorities, most of whom are Hispanic. A lot of the students come from families that don't have a lot of money, so they can get lunch for free or at a lower cost. Hill Central School's grades are lower than the state average. New information shows that only 3–4% of students are good at math and 11% are good at reading and writing in English. These results show that students are still having trouble with their schoolwork and need more help with their lessons. Hill Central doesn't say how much each student spends on school, but the district is known for being careful with its resources and helping communities that have a lot of needs. Hill Central School has a lot of culture, and music is a big part of it. It is also trying to help kids do better in school and get better grades.
