Being Updated
Danbury Public Schools said that AIS will stay an interdistrict magnet school. This is because state officials made it clear that there will be no financial penalties, even though more than 75% of the students at the school are from Danbury. School leaders say that demand is still high; AIS got 482 applications in its most recent lottery. The district is also looking into ways to make better use of space that isn't being used enough, such as moving special programs into the AIS building.
Q1. What sets AIS apart from other Danbury elementary schools?
Ans. AIS has a special magnet program that focuses on learning about other countries. It involves learning about the world, being aware of other cultures, and teaching by asking questions.
Q2. Do elementary school students at AIS learn other languages?
Ans. Yes, AIS helps students learn more about the world by teaching them about other cultures and languages through lessons, projects, and activities that have to do with other countries.
Q3. Do students need to live in Danbury to sign up for AIS?
Ans. Because AIS is a magnet school, students from Danbury and other places can apply. But a lottery system fills the few open spots.
Q4. Do AIS take magnet students to school?
Ans. Danbury Public Schools has rules about transportation that say some students can get rides to and from school in some areas if they meet certain requirements.
Q5. What kinds of programs or activities after school can help kids learn more?
Ans. AIS has activities that go along with its global studies theme, such as international fairs, cultural showcases, learning outside, clubs, and family events.
