Being Updated
This school year, Ballington Academy for the Arts and Sciences in San Bernardino is adding more programs and focusing on making academic supports stronger and getting students ready for college and careers. School leaders have talked about better ways to teach and the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Elementary program to help students learn how to study. Recent reports from inside the school show that they are adding music, visual arts, science, and technology to the daily curriculum to get students more involved and make them think more critically. Teachers in the area say that these efforts are part of a larger push to make learning in the classroom more meaningful and relevant to the real world. The school is still working on better ways to help students who need extra help with math and reading, with the goal of raising scores in areas where they have been low.
