See top schools in SacramentoThe Sacramento City Unified School District runs the John Morse Therapeutic Center, which is a public therapeutic school in Sacramento, California. The school helps kids in grades K–8 who need a lot of help with their behavior and emotions in a very structured learning environment. The goal of the John Morse Therapeutic Center is to help students learn social and emotional skills along with their regular schoolwork so that they can go back to regular school when they are ready. The number of students is very small, usually between 15 and 20, which means that there are only about 4 students for every teacher. This makes it possible for teachers, counselors, and support staff to work closely together and give each student personalized instruction. The school puts a lot of stress on therapeutic interventions, behavior management strategies, and trauma-informed practices that are built into everyday schoolwork. The student body is very diverse, with a lot of students coming from minority backgrounds and a lot of them coming from families with low incomes. About 10% of students are good at math, and 5% are good at reading and writing in English. This is because the school has a specific mission rather than a focus on standardized test scores. Because of the extra help services, the cost per student is higher than in most public schools. Overall, John Morse Therapeutic Center does a great job of providing personalized care, therapeutic support, and structured intervention for students with a lot of different needs.

Being Updated
Recently, the John Morse Therapeutic Center changed its schedule because of safety measures taken across the district because of severe weather. Classes started up again as soon as the weather improved. The short break showed how much the school cares about keeping students safe and making sure they get the therapy they need.
Q1. How do students get into or get referred to John Morse Therapeutic Center?
