Rocketship Discovery Prep is based on the Rocketship Public Schools model. This model emphasizes longer learning times, data-driven instruction, and basic math and reading skills. Most of the students are Hispanic/Latino and speak more than one language, but they come from a wide range of backgrounds. U.S. News says that 30% of students meet or exceed the standards for math proficiency, and 29% meet or exceed the standards for reading proficiency. This means that they aren't doing as well in school as most students in California. Rocketship Discovery Prep gets money from the government to run its charter school.
