Mission Viejo, California, is a suburban area in southern Orange County with about 95,000 residents. It is known for its planned neighborhoods, recreational facilities, and family-friendly way of life. The Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) runs most of the public elementary schools. It has several well-known elementary and K–8 campuses. There are also private and charter schools that offer other options. Mission Viejo schools focus on core academics and enrichment through arts, music, and technology. The state gives many local schools high marks all the time, and they are called California Distinguished Schools because of their academic performance and student growth. Mission Viejo is a great place for families, as it has a lot of community involvement, safe neighborhoods, and good extracurricular activities.
