City Language Immersion Charter in Los Angeles, California, is getting a lot of attention for its new way of teaching. The school is dedicated to making sure that all students, regardless of their immigration status, feel safe and welcome there.
City Language Immersion Charter is giving students the language and cultural skills they need by focusing on dual-language immersion. The school's "90/10" immersion model, in which 90% of kindergarten lessons are in Spanish, is helping kids become fluent and confident in both languages. The principal and other staff are working hard to make the school a lively place where students can do well. The school focuses on social-emotional learning, project-based learning, and getting involved in the community to help students do well in a world that is becoming more connected.
