Being Updated
After a nearby residential incident led to a brief campus lockdown earlier this week, Juarez-Lincoln Elementary School in San Diego put in place more safety measures. Local police responded to a situation in the neighborhood where someone was upset, and school officials put classrooms on alert as a safety measure while officers secured the area. The lockdown lasted about 90 minutes, and during that time, staff talked to families to make sure students were safe and up to date.
School leaders stressed that the safety measures were normal and did not pose a direct threat to students or staff on campus. District safety officials praised how quickly school staff and police worked together. They said that this kind of coordination is part of a bigger effort to keep all schools safe for learning.
The response shows that Juarez-Lincoln Elementary is ready and committed to keeping students safe.
