Serving 888 students in grades K–5, Edgewood Elementary School is part of the Homewood City Schools district in Homewood, Alabama. With the help of 59 full-time instructors and one full-time counselor, the school is able to maintain a student-teacher ratio of 15:1. The school does well academically, with 84% of students being proficient in reading and 72% in arithmetic. About sixteen percent of the student body is minority, while the gender ratio is balanced. Edgewood Elementary in Homewood, AL, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special event and a time capsule. Laura Tate was honored as Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by CLAS, and Ashley McCullars became the new principal. The school also hosted its annual Spring Festival, a fun event with activities, food, and family time, showing great leadership and a strong connection with the community.
