Western Hills Magnet Center shared recent district updates from Omaha Public Schools. These included information about 2026–27 budget planning and upcoming community opportunities. One highlighted offering is the availability of winter 2026 swimming lessons for students and families.
Q1. How do students at Western Hills learn about observation logs?
Ans. Students take daily notes, draw pictures, and make measurements during environmental activities to help them develop excellent scientific tracking habits.
Q2. How does the magnet theme help us understand habitats?
Ans. Teachers show students model habitats and talk about how different animals meet their needs in each one.
Q3. What do students do to get ready for outdoor learning?
Ans. Before going outside, students get their clipboards, pencils, and materials that are safe for the field, and then they go over what is expected of them.
Q4. How does Western Hills make basic inquiry questions stronger?
Ans. Students practice asking questions such as who, what, when, where, and why to deepen their understanding of science and increase their interest in the subject.
Q5. What does the school do to raise awareness about sustainability?
Ans. Classrooms focus on simple eco-friendly habits, like recycling stations and routines that produce less waste, which is in line with the magnet focus.
