Panel Discussion

In this panel discussion, a group of young learners examined how artificial intelligence is influencing modern education. Participants Anar Shara, Jaria, Shya, Priti, and Anurag approached the topic from multiple angles, reflecting on both the opportunities and concerns associated with AI driven tools. With Preksha guiding the conversation, the students demonstrated the value of structured dialogue in helping young thinkers analyze complex technological developments.
The discussion began with an exploration of how artificial intelligence is steadily becoming part of modern classrooms. Moderator Amani introduced the topic by explaining that AI tools are already influencing how students learn, from digital assistants that answer questions to platforms that generate explanations, examples, and practice exercises. As these technologies become more accessible, students today are experiencing a learning environment where AI can play both a supportive and controversial role.
Anurag opened the conversation by highlighting concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence in education. He pointed out that many students rely on AI tools to complete assignments, which can reduce independent thinking and lead to plagiarism. According to him, when students depend too heavily on automated answers, they risk weakening their ability to analyze problems and develop their own reasoning.
Offering a different perspective, Shaurya explained how AI can be beneficial when used as a study tool rather than a shortcut. He described how students can ask AI systems to explain difficult topics in simple ways or even use analogies to make concepts easier to understand. In this way, AI can help students review lessons and prepare for tests, especially when teachers are not available outside school hours.
Building on this idea, Devarshitha and Preethi discussed the importance of setting clear guidelines for AI use in schools. They emphasized that while AI can support learning, students must still rely on their own thinking skills. According to them, responsible use of AI should focus on learning support rather than simply generating answers.
Throughout the discussion, Amani encouraged the panelists to explore both the advantages and limitations of AI while respecting each other’s viewpoints. The conversation demonstrated how students can thoughtfully examine emerging technologies and consider how they should be integrated into education.
