About Aaron Humphreys
Aaron Humphreys is an independent college consultant and founder of NextChapter College Co., which he launched in 2023 to provide remote college admissions support to students and families throughout the greater Richmond region and beyond. With a decade of experience guiding thousands of students through the college application process, he is known for building strong relationships with students and families, delivering data-informed counseling programs and creating clear, confidence-boosting pathways to postsecondary success. He has spent years building relationships with college admissions teams to gain valuable insights that help students stand out in competitive applicant pools. His expertise spans admissions strategy, essay coaching and large-scale college readiness programming, making him a dedicated resource for students at any stage of their college journey.?
Since November 2022, Aaron has served as a school counselor at Benedictine College Preparatory, where he manages a caseload of over 300 students in grades 9 through 12, providing holistic academic, career and personal counseling through individual and group sessions. He guides students in course selection, goal setting and study skills development, delivers assessments, workshops and seminars to prepare students and parents for college and career pathways, assists with scholarship identification and financial aid, provides crisis intervention support and uses data-driven insights to evaluate and enhance counseling programs. He also worked as a school counselor at E.C. Glass High School from October 2018 to December 2022, where he specialized in individualized education planning, academic advising and crisis intervention while fostering holistic student development through collaboration with teachers, parents and the community. Earlier in his career, he worked as a school counselor at Blue Ridge High School in Greenville County Public Schools from June 2016 to June 2018. From November 2022 to August 2023, he worked with Catapult Learning to develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program for 290 students in grades 9 through 12 at Benedictine Schools of Richmond.?
Aaron holds a Master of Education in School Counseling for grades K through 12 from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a focus on Sports and Exercise Studies from Randolph College. At Randolph College, he was an inaugural member of the Men's Soccer Program, serving as a four-year starting goalkeeper, three-year captain, two-year ODAC All-Conference selection and 2010 Male Athlete of the Year. His athletic background informs his coaching work, as he served as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach for Randolph College Women's Soccer from August 2018 to December 2022 and owned Total Goalkeeping, a private soccer training platform, from June 2009 to August 2020. He also worked as a Physical Therapy Tech at Tidewater Physical Therapy from May 2011 to January 2014.
