Jenni King

Jenni King is a senior college counselor with Campus Bound and a longtime first-generation college counselor and mentor at Newton South High School in the Newton Public Schools system. With more than five decades of experience in school guidance and college advising, she has dedicated her career to supporting students through the college planning and application process, with a particular focus on those whose parents did not attend college and who come from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Her work at Newton South High School, where she has served as a mentor and counselor since 2007, centers on building trust, providing individualized guidance, and consulting with school leadership on guidance-related issues.

Before her focus on first-generation students, Jenni spent thirty years as a guidance counselor in Newton Public Schools and served as guidance department chair at Newton South High School from 2003 to 2007. This extensive experience in comprehensive school counseling and departmental leadership gives her a deep understanding of how schools support students academically, socially, and emotionally, as well as how to navigate the college application landscape within a large public high school setting. Her parallel work with Campus Bound since 2009 allows her to serve families seeking more personalized college consulting, combining her decades of school-based expertise with the flexibility of independent practice.

Jenni holds a BA in History from Skidmore College, an EdM in Counseling from Tufts University, and a CAGS in School Psychology from Northeastern University. Her educational background and long career reflect a commitment to understanding students holistically and helping them build pathways that align with their strengths, interests, and circumstances. She is passionate about equity, access, and empowering students to recognize and pursue their full potential, particularly those who may be the first in their families to navigate higher education.
