About Scott Albert Johnson

Scott Albert Johnson is an independent college counselor and the founder of True College Counseling LLC, based in Jackson, Mississippi. He helps high school students and families navigate the college admissions process with a focus on authentic fit and clear communication about options. His students have been admitted to many of the most selective colleges and universities in the United States, including Ivy League and highly competitive private institutions. As CEO and counselor, he offers structured, checklist-driven support that reduces stress while keeping students accountable throughout the application cycle.

From 2012 to 2023, Scott served as Associate Director of College Counseling at St. Andrews Episcopal School in Ridgeland, Mississippi. In that role, he advised students at a top-tier independent day school on every aspect of college search and application, wrote detailed recommendation letters and led major programs such as one of the premier college fairs in the Southeast and the annual college tour by the school. He is a graduate of the Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions and has represented Mississippi on the NACAC Government Relations Committee, which underscores his engagement with national best practices in college counseling. Alongside counseling, Scott maintains a successful career as a professional musician and songwriter, which deepens his ability to guide arts-focused and creative students.
