About Jenny Dumas
Jenny Dumas is an Independent Educational Consultant at College Calm, where she has worked since September 2015 in San Carlos, California. She enjoys the in-depth connection she builds with students while helping them develop strengths and self-awareness through the college application process. Her expertise lies in college research, post-secondary planning, career skill development and the college application process. She strives to help students find and develop their interests to build skills such as initiative, leadership and organization necessary for success in college and the workforce. As a member of the College Calm Team, she assists in developing webinars and newsletters in addition to meeting with students and families.
In December 2023, Jenny returned to school counseling as a full-time School Counselor at Los Altos High School. Previously, she worked in High School Admissions at Tessellations School in Cupertino from August to December 2023. Her extensive school counseling background includes serving as School Counselor at Lynbrook High School in the Fremont Union High School District from April 2010 to November 2014, where she helped students in grades 9 through 12 develop academic, social and career skills, created a college exploration curriculum and secured speakers for grade level nights on topics such as athletics and arts admissions. She also worked as a High School Counselor at Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, Delaware, from August 2009 to May 2010 and as a Middle School Counselor at Chartiers Valley School District in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, from August 2007 to June 2009.
Jenny's career began in collegiate athletics as a College Field Hockey Coach at Washington and Jefferson College from July 2003 to June 2007, where she was responsible for recruitment, development and retention of Division III athletes, working closely with admissions to grow her roster. As a former two-sport NCAA Division II athlete in softball and field hockey at Slippery Rock University, she brings unique insight into the student-athlete experience. Jenny holds a Master of Education in School Counseling K-12 from PennWest California and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Slippery Rock University.
