Newport News, Virginia, is a coastal city in the Hampton Roads area with about 180,000 people residing there. There are many neighborhoods that are great for families and have a lot of cultural history. There are seven middle schools run by Newport News Public Schools (NNPS) that serve a wide range of students. These schools teach most of the things that middle school students need to know. Academics focus on basic subjects like English, math, science, and social studies. They also focus on technology, the arts, foreign languages, and physical education. There are also many extracurricular activities, like sports, robotics, chess, and student government, that help students grow in other ways. B.T. Washington Middle School and Homer L. Hines Middle School are two of the districts best schools, and the state fully accredits all NNPS schools. NNPS focuses on inclusivity, diversity, and getting students ready for college and careers.
