Derry, New Hampshire, is a town in Rockingham County with a suburban feel and a lot of history. It has about 34,000 residents. The Derry Cooperative School District runs two public middle schools; they are Gilbert H. Hood Middle School and West Running Brook Middle School for grades 6–8. These schools combined math and reading proficiency scores are currently below the state average and in the bottom half of all New Hampshire middle schools. However, they serve a fairly diverse student body and focus on core academics, inclusive classrooms, and extracurricular activities. Families have more options because there are private schools in the area. Derry has safe neighborhoods, community amenities, and cultural resources make it a fun place for students and families who want to learn more.
