Dickinson Middle School formally adopted a new mascot subsequent to a student vote in May 2025. The school adopted the Mavericks identity, supplanting the previous nickname, with the new masked cowboy logo introduced for the 2025–2026 academic year in conjunction with Dickinson High School. The modification created a cohesive and contemporary school identity consistent with district directives and student feedback.
