In Missouri, middle school education continues to show substantial improvement. In 2025, more than 92% of middle school students are now enrolled in schools that are either meeting or exceeding state standards as established by the MSIP 6 accountability system. Currently, there are over 1,450 middle schools in the state, spread throughout 554 school districts that serve K-12 students, currently numbering over 879,000 students in Missouri. With a K-12 attendance rate of over 92%, coupled with a steady increase in grade 3-8 ELA and Math scores, Missouri is making every effort to improve the quality of learning.
