Idaho provides a high-quality middle school experience for many children who go on to pursue successful careers. With approximately 439 publicly funded middle schools in Idaho serving over 74000 students, the performance of these schools on state assessment frameworks, along with the high numbers of students exceeding proficiency levels (in math and science) will likely continue to improve due to the dedicated efforts of charter school operators such as North Idaho STEM Charter Academy and Galileo STEM Academy, who focus primarily on STEM education through innovative teaching practices. Additionally, the continued development of charter school programs in Idaho elementary and secondary education systems, alongside the Essential Standards (standardized curriculum) initiative, will assist Idaho in the growth of its middle school education system while also providing improved learning outcomes for all students, regardless of charter status, across Idaho.
