Discovery Middle School is a public middle school in Orlando, Florida, for students in grades 6–8. There are about 787 students at the school, and the student-teacher ratio is about 17:1, which helps keep class sizes small. Discovery Middle School uses the same curriculum as Orange County Public Schools and focuses on making sure students are ready for college and careers, as well as keeping them interested in school through structured lessons. The student body is very diverse, and the majority of students are from minority groups that live nearby. According to U.S. News, 68% of students are proficient or better in math, and 51% are proficient or better in reading. This shows that they do well in school, especially in math. The amount of money spent per student is in line with the average for the district and the state of Florida. The school is in a suburban area with average home prices, which is good for the school because the community is involved. Overall, Discovery Middle School has good academic results and shows promise because it uses a balanced teaching style and has strong math scores.
