The Academy for Math Engineering & Science (AMES) is a top public charter high school in Salt Lake City, Utah, for students in grades 9–12. As a top school, it focuses on a tough STEM-based curriculum that gets students ready for technical fields that are in high demand. There are about 500 students at the school, and there is about one teacher for every 18 students. It is a well-known top school that offers a lot of Advanced Placement classes. 58% of students take AP classes. There are a lot of different kinds of students at the school, and it is one of the best High School in "Utah" . 42% of them are minorities, and 16% of them are economically disadvantaged. The Academy for Math Engineering & Science is one of the best schools in the state. It has a 53% math proficiency rate and a 69% reading proficiency rate. Its strengths are its partnerships with local universities and its focused academic environment that encourages new ideas. This makes it one of the best schools for people who want to be engineers or scientists.

The Academy for Math Engineering & Science is making its curriculum more like that of a university by adding more elective courses in sustainable engineering and artificial intelligence. Students showed off their advanced research projects at the recent regional science fair and won several top awards for their work in data science and mechanical design. The school's mentorship program with University of Utah faculty also helps to promote a culture of working together.
