About Jja

The Juvenile Justice Academy (JJA) is a public school in San Antonio, Texas, that is an alternative to regular school for students in grades 9 through 12. The Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) is one of the best schools for kids who are in the justice system. It is mostly about helping students get back into the community and stay on top of their schoolwork. There are about 260 students at the school, and with a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1, every student can get the help they need. The academy's main way of teaching is through restorative practices and trauma-informed instruction. Students benefit from programs that help them get ready for work, learn life skills, and the Communities In Schools program, which gives them tutoring and help with basic needs. About 69% of the students are Hispanic, and a lot of them come from low-income families. Based on recent test scores, the school says that 12% of students are good at math and 22% are good at reading. JJA is one of the best schools for helping students become better people and do well in school in a safe and supportive setting, and it is one of the best high schools in Texas.
