Recently, McAllen High School received some big awards. After a thorough formal review, its JROTC program kept its Honor Unit with Distinction status. Individual students also did very well. Ava Aragon won the 5A 105 lb State Championship in wrestling, making her the first female wrestler in school history to win a gold medal. The school's theater department is also getting ready for the 2026 Palm Awards in May, where they have been nominated in several categories for both performance and production.
