About Lubbock Co Juvenile Justice Ctr

The Lubbock Co Juvenile Justice Center in Lubbock, Texas, is an alternative school for kids in grades 6–12 who have been sent there by the juvenile justice system or for bad behavior. There are about 50 students at the center, and there is one teacher for every seven students. This allows for very individualized teaching. The program's main goal is to help students keep learning, make up missed credits, and work toward being able to do grade-level work, even if they have trouble with their behavior or schoolwork. Many of them are seen as at-risk because they had trouble in school or with the law when they were younger. The information about how well students do in school shows that they have a lot of trouble. Only 5% of them are good at math, and only 15% are good at reading (ELA). This shows that juvenile and alternative justice education programs need a lot of extra help. The SAT and ACT are the usual tests for getting into college, but students here don't have to take them.
