Abraham Lincoln High School has a new Teacher Academy partnership, pairing future teachers with Special Education students for weekly peer mentoring and inclusive activities. Started by English teacher Christine Eng and Special Education teachers Brigid O’Brien and David Maske, the program promotes connection through games, movie sessions and social interaction during 7th period. The students call one another “powerpals” and say they look forward to seeing each other every Monday, creating a supportive community beyond learning differences.
