With 389 high schools throughout the state, the New Mexico high school system has achieved the highest graduation rates and significant increases in literacy. The “Science of Reading” and Next-Step Plans programs have aided in increasing reading proficiency to 44% and providing nearly 100% graduation rates for some of the highest performing schools of New Mexico, such as the Early College Academy. In addition, many of the top academic-performing high schools of New Mexico (Los Alamos High School and the Albuquerque Institute of Math and Science) show measurable success in their academic performance. The top high schools in New Mexico are on track to be successful in preparing all students for success in college and careers through public transparency using performance dashboards and targeted intervention strategies.
