Keene, which has about 23,000 people and is the cultural and business center of the Monadnock Region, is known for its wide Main Street and friendly people. There are a lot of public schools in the area, and Keene State College is close by. This is what makes the high school scene what it is. Career and technical education (CTE) and the visual and performing arts are both very important to schools in the area. People like the system because it is friendly and has a lot of activities outside of school, like sports that have been around for a long time.
