Minot, which is called the "Magic City," is home to about 47,000 people and has a strong military and energy sector. There are a lot of public and private parochial schools that offer high school education. These schools focus on a strong mix of traditional academics and technical skills. The curriculum focuses on career paths in engineering and aviation, often with help from the nearby Air Force base. The district is known for its award-winning fine arts programs and its competitive sports teams.
