The school has about 1,100 to 1,300 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 16:1. This makes for a medium-sized learning environment that helps students grow both academically and outside of school. New Hanover High School has a full academic program that includes college-preparatory classes, Advanced Placement (AP) classes, career and technical education (CTE) pathways, fine arts, and sports. The school focuses on getting students ready for college, work, and personal growth. It also offers a variety of extracurricular activities to help students stay interested and improve their skills.
