Murrah High School is one of the best public high schools in Jackson, Mississippi. It offers a wide range of classes for students in grades 9 through 12. It is known as one of the best schools in the state and serves students in the Jackson Public School District. The school places a strong emphasis on high academic standards. The school is known as one of the best for getting ready for college, with an impressive 70% of students taking Advanced Placement (AP) classes and tests, and it is one of the best High School in "Mississippi" . The student body is made up of 98% minorities, and all of the students are from low-income families. Murrah High School has great academic success, especially in math (73% proficiency) and reading (37% proficiency). The school helps students take the ACT and SAT to help them reach their goals after high school. The school is known for producing high-achieving graduates who are ready for the challenges of higher education and being a global citizen. It has strong academic programs and a good reputation for excellence.

Eight students from Murrah High School were recently honored for their work in the prestigious AP Capstone Program. Some of them earned the AP Capstone Diploma for their advanced research and presentation skills. The school's Base Pair program is still going strong. For example, Zuri Wheaton is doing high-level scientific research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center with the help of mentors. In addition, the campus is encouraging students to be creative through its literary magazine, "The Pleiades," and getting ready for the release of the school yearbook for 2026.
