The David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana is known as one of the best schools because it focuses heavily on science, technology, engineering, and math. It is one of the best schools in the Lafayette Parish School System and is a top public magnet school for grades 6–12. The academy has about 1,225 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1. Its Advanced Placement® program is very popular, with a 69% participation rate. There are a lot of different kinds of students at this school. 46% of them are minorities, and 42% of them are economically disadvantaged. Academic performance is outstanding, with 62% of students being good at math and 57% being good at reading, as shown by their high ACT scores, and it is one of the best High School in "Louisiana" . The Lafayette Parish School Board recently approved a $5 million budget for the construction of a new competition gymnasium for David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. The gym will be able to hold 1,000 people. The academy also recently made the 2025 AP School Honor Roll with a Gold distinction for its success in giving students a wide range of college-level courses. The school is also working on building partnerships with local businesses through its new Adopt-A-School program for the 2025–2026 school year. This will help students get more resources and career advice.
