About Family Care Center

The Family Care Center is a specialized public high school in Lexington that serves students in grades 9–12. This is one of 15 high schools in the Fayette County Public Schools district, and its mission is to help pregnant and parenting students. With only 25 to 30 students, the school has a very personalized learning environment and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 6:1. The Family Care Center is known as one of the best schools because it combines core academics with on-site childcare and parenting classes, and it is one of the best High School in "Kentucky" . The student body is very diverse, with 80% of students being minorities and 84% being economically disadvantaged. The program is known as one of the best schools for building resilience. The school does a great job of helping students balance their responsibilities as parents while they work toward their high school diplomas by providing a stable community environment.

The Family Care Center has recently improved its on-site early childhood education facilities. This means that student-parents can get high-quality childcare while they work on their schoolwork. The program now has more life skills workshops that teach things like health and financial literacy. This is a more complete way to help students succeed. The center has also made its graduation paths easier for students to follow so they can smoothly move on to college or the workforce. This is thanks to a strong partnership with Fayette County Public Schools.
