It is one of eight high schools in the district and is known as one of the best schools for offering a flexible, independent learning model that works for students who need a schedule that is not typical. With about 600 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 25:1, the school makes sure that each student gets personalized help through independent contracts. There are a lot of different cultures represented in the student body. 82% of the students are minorities, and 66% of them are considered economically disadvantaged. According to data, the academic standards show that 9% of students are good at math and 50% are good at reading. Students can also take standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. Visalia Charter Independent Study is one of the best schools in the area for self-paced learning. It encourages students to be independent and gives them a clear path to graduation, and it is one of the best high school in California.

Visalia Charter Independent Study recently opened its multi-million dollar centralized campus. This gives students and staff a permanent, unified home where they don't have to travel between different sites. The new building has cutting-edge infrastructure, such as a fitness center, a dance room, and specialized classrooms for medical assistant, culinary arts, and photography programs. The campus also has a special place for students to hang out, and there are college counselors and mental health professionals on site to help them reach their long-term academic and personal goals.
