Phoenix Academy in San Rafael is still working toward its goal of helping students with academic and behavioral problems by giving them specialized, small-group instruction. The school's curriculum focuses on a differentiated and individualized approach that meets the unique learning needs of its wide range of students. Recent changes include a continued focus on mental health and wellness programs that are built right into the daily schedule to make sure everyone feels supported. The academy is also part of the larger efforts by San Rafael City Schools to modernize schools and use new evidence-based literacy programs throughout the district.
