East Village Middle College High is a new public high school in the San Diego Unified School District that serves grades 9–12. The school is known as one of the best in the area and has a unique "middle college" model that lets students earn college credits at the same time. The school is welcoming to everyone, with 78% of students being from minority groups and about 61% of students being from low-income families.Academically, East Village Middle College High is very good, with 79% of students being good at reading and 43% being good at math. The school offers SAT and ACT testing to help students move on to college. The school is in the middle of downtown San Diego, close to the city's college facilities. It is known as one of the best schools for motivated students. Its main strengths are its high literacy rates and its ability to combine high school and college-level work, which helps students do well in school from an early age, and it is one of the best high schools in California.

East Village Middle College High is still working with San Diego City College to give students the chance to take college classes and get an Associate Degree while they are still in high school. The school has added new Saturday Academy sessions for the 2025–2026 school year to help students get ready for college by focusing on intensive SAT and ACT prep. The campus also recently added a STEM-focused mentorship program that pairs upperclassmen with industry leaders in the East Village tech corridor to help them learn about new career paths.
