It is one of 12 high schools in the district and is known as one of the best because of its long history of community service and academic growth. The school has about 1,600 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 21:1. The school has a lot of different academic paths, and 36% of students take Advanced Placement exams. The student body is very diverse, with 98% of students being minorities and 94% of students being economically disadvantaged. According to recent academic data, 12% of students are good at math and 32% are good at reading. The school helps students get ready for college by giving them tests like the SAT and ACT. San Bernardino High is known as one of the best schools in the area. It has a strong school spirit and is dedicated to giving students the tools they need to succeed in school and in their future careers, and it is one of the best high school in California.

The new administration building at San Bernardino High School recently had its grand opening. It was designed to make it easier for students to get services and make the school more welcoming to the community. The campus is also getting a new aquatics center with a state-of-the-art pool for the school's competitive swim and water polo teams. The school is also making its academic transition programs stronger by holding SAT prep workshops and college application nights to help the Class of 2026 reach their goals after high school.
