Through its Information Technology and Digital Media Academy, Oakland Unity High School keeps up a culture of high academic expectations and lots of help. One recent big event was the selection of several students to receive the Oral Lee Brown Foundation Scholarship, which will help them pay for college. The school also puts a lot of emphasis on getting students involved in their communities and fighting climate change. They recently started a youth leadership program that gives students the tools they need to deal with environmental problems in their own neighborhoods.
