It is one of six high schools in the Napa Valley Unified School District and has about 360 students, with a student-to-teacher ratio of about 20:1. The school is known for being one of the best because it was one of the first to use project-based learning and teach digital skills for the 21st century. New Technology High School is improving its academic offerings by partnering with Napa Valley College to create an Early College program. This lets students take college-level classes right in their high school schedule. The school also honors students who do well in the arts. For example, senior Maddie Chiu recently won the 2025 Napa Countywide Poetry Out Loud contest. The campus is also improving its technical infrastructure. They are currently making plans for strategic upgrades to the school's buildings and fire safety systems.
