Five students from Del Norte High School were chosen for the 2026 Northern California Honor Band, which was a big deal for the school. This set a new record for musical excellence. In March 2026, the community also gave teacher James Gensaw a statewide human rights award for his 20 years of work to keep the Yurok language and culture alive on campus. Also, students in the school's Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are getting unique hands-on experience by building a whole tiny home, which combines practical job skills with community-focused innovation.
