There are about 1,900 to 2,000 students at the school, and the student-to-teacher ratio is about 24:1. The school offers structured classroom instruction and academic support services. Western High School has a college-preparatory curriculum with Advanced Placement (AP) classes, honors classes, and electives in STEM, the arts, and the humanities. Students can also participate in sports, the performing arts, and extracurricular clubs, which help them grow in ways other than academics. The Western High School is now part of a merged 7–12 campus with Orangeview as part of a district restructuring. The school is still adapting to changing enrollment and more career-tech opportunities, and its athletic teams are having competitive seasons.
