The Alameda Science and Technology Institute is a very specialized public school for grades 9 through 12 in the Alameda Unified School District. It is known as one of the best schools for STEM education. It is also an early college high school, which means that students can earn college credits while still in high school. The student body is diverse, with 85% of students being minorities and 47% of students being from low-income families. Alameda Science and Technology Institute is known as one of the best schools for academic excellence, with 76% of students doing well in math and 100% doing well in reading. The school is academically demanding and helpful, which helps students do well on tests like the SAT and ACT. The school is in a community that values new ideas, and it is known for having very high standards. Its main strength is its unique partnership with local colleges, which gives students a big head start on their college education, and it is one of the best high schools in California.

The Alameda Science and Technology Institute was recently named a 2026 California Distinguished School because it does such a great job of offering an accelerated early college curriculum. Students are making the most of their special relationship with the College of Alameda right now. Many seniors are on track to get their Associate degrees at the same time as their high school diplomas this spring. To make sure the Class of 2026 is ready for the move to four-year colleges, the campus is also starting new seminar series focused on STEM subjects and college application workshops.
