Latest News

According to some important news from Fisher Elementary School in Oklahoma City, A recent news story says that the city has given nearly $2 million in Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grants to make it safer for people to walk around a few elementary schools. This will help Fisher Elementary School, among other schools. The planned improvements will add new sidewalks along Southwood Drive and on the southwest and northwest sides of the school campus. This will make it safer for kids to ride their bikes or walk to school. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the city's MAPS 4 sidewalk project worked together to get the funds. The last 20% comes from local matching funds, making it an 80/20 funding model. This investment in infrastructure is well-timed. Better walking paths not only make it safer for students and families, but they also help the school reach its bigger goal of making the community a better place to learn. This means that Fisher Elementary School will be a safer place for kids to walk, and families may even feel more connected to the neighborhood because they will feel safer coming and going.
