Only two schools in Nevada to be named a 2025 National ESEA Distinguished School. In that the Florence Drake Elementary School is also include in Sparks. The award is given to the school for doing such a great job of helping students from special populations, which shows a strong commitment to making sure all students succeed in school.

Principal Jason Shipman said that the award was "a validation of the heart, hard work, and daily dedication our staff brings to this community." The Nevada Department of Education reviewed the data for a year before giving the award. The National ESEA Conference will be the place to celebrate it.
