A teacher who specializes in special education at the school defended a student during a vicious assault perpetrated by multiple young men outside the school by using her own body as a shield.
Prior to these incidents, the classrooms at the school marked the “first birthday” of ‘Ernie’ throughout the public-school system across the city, which was a program to introduce students across different schools - her school included.

Ans. The school has a safe entrance system, has security staff on premises, and has regular safety drills to ensure the overall school environment is safe for teaching and learning.

Ans. Yes. Midtown serves breakfast and lunch through the Bayonne Public Schools Nutrition Program, meals are free or reduced for qualifying students for free or reduced lunch.

Ans. Teachers regularly post grades and attendance for parents in the district's online parent account. Report cards and progress reports are sent home quarterly.

Ans. Yes, Midtown supports social and emotional learning through our counseling program with students, peer mentoring opportunities, and character education.
