Bayview Elementary sits on Leonardville Road in the Belford section of Middletown Township, tucked among quiet residential streets and not far from the water’s edge of Raritan Bay. It’s the type of community school where drop-off feels familiar: teachers wave, parents chat in the lot, and kids spill into classrooms with backpacks and smiles.
The school serves grades K-5, with about 340 students enrolled in recent years.
Teachers are plentiful relative to that size the student-teacher ratio is reported at around 9:1, according to the latest data.
When you look at academic performance, Bayview isn’t at the very top of the district ranking, but it maintains steady effort. For instance, roughly 42 % of students are proficient in math and about 47 % in reading in recent reporting.Nearby elementary schools in the Middletown Township district — such as those at Lincroft or Nut Swamp — tend to show stronger proficiency rates, so Bayview is considered a solid but somewhat up-and-coming choice.
On the housing front, living in the Bayview zone means being in a town with strong schools and shoreline proximity. Exact rental rates can vary, but data suggests the median home value in the area is around US $570,000, hinting that three-bedroom rentals would likely fall into the mid-$1,500+ per month range given demand.
The school’s legacy lies in local continuity: many past students return as volunteers, parents or staff in the district, contributing to that deep community feel.
New Playground Name
We are so excited to announce the name of our new playground! Following a school-wide and Robinson community vote we narrowed a large list of names down to four. Since our students will be using the playground on a daily basis, we gave them the final vote! 476.....

Being Updated
In October 2025, Bayview Elementary marked “Culture & Kindness Week,” where each class explored a different country’s traditions, created display booths and invited families in for short cultural presentations. The school hallways were filled with flags, student-made art, and stories shared during snack break. The week highlighted the school’s focus on creativity, respect and global citizenship.
1. How would I describe the day-to-day feel at Bayview?
A. It’s friendly and familiar small-enough for teachers to know students’ names, and calm enough that the school feels like a neighborhood hub, not a race track.
2. How do families stay involved?
A. Parents commonly help with after-school clubs, classroom volunteering, and seasonal events like the cultural week. The PTA is active and welcomed.
3. What kinds of extra-academic opportunities exist?
A. In addition to regular classes, Bayview offers art, music, and themed weeks (like culture or kindness weeks) that let students explore beyond the textbook.
4. How does the school support students who may be behind academically?
A. Teachers use small-group instruction, peer-support buddies and extra reading/math time to help kids catch up and stay engaged.
5. What do families say they appreciate most about Bayview?
A. Its sense of belonging. Many choose the school because it’s part of their community, familiar, and places value on kindness and creativity alongside academics.
