Cedar Island Elementary School is a public school in Maple Grove, Minnesota, that teaches kids from pre-K (or kindergarten) to grade 5. It is in the Osseo Area School District. There are about 460 to 480 students at the school, and the student-teacher ratio is about 16:1. This means that each student gets the right amount of help in class. Reading, writing, math, science, and social-emotional learning are the main subjects taught at Cedar Island Elementary School. There are also extra classes in music, art, and sports. People learn better in the classroom when they get to know each other better at morning community meetings. The school has a lot of different kinds of students. About 56% are White, 22% are Black or African American, 12% are multiracial, 7% are Hispanic, and a small number are Asian or from other backgrounds. A little less than half of the students can get lunch for free or for a low cost. Based on how well its students do in school, the school is in the top 20% of all Minnesota elementary schools. About 65–69% of students are good at math, and 60–64% are good at reading, which is better than the average for the state. Each student costs about $14,000. The school is in a stable suburban area and is known for having strong academics, a supportive environment, and a focus on developing the whole child. These things make it a good place for students to do well.
