Top 10% School in Michigan
Ranked 39 of 247 in Michigan
Top schools in Rochester HillsHampton Elementary sits tucked in a quiet stretch of Hampton Circle, surrounded by tree-lined streets and families who’ve called this neighborhood home for generations. It’s the kind of school that feels both friendly and familiar where teachers know parents by first name, and the hallways are filled with colorful artwork, not test posters. Each morning begins with calm greetings and cheerful noise, the kind that reminds you learning can still feel joyful. The school serves around 430 students, keeping its student–teacher ratio near 15:1, which allows for focused, personal teaching. Across Michigan, the average math proficiency is about 35 percent, but Hampton’s students typically perform stronger hovering between 55 and 58 percent. It’s not just numbers that stand out, though; it’s the atmosphere. Compared to nearby schools like Delta Kelly Elementary and Meadow Brook Elementary, Hampton is often described by parents as “the cozy one.” There’s an ease here less stress, more steady encouragement. Teachers focus on teamwork and growth, not just grades. The surrounding area reflects that same balance. Rochester Hills is calm, clean, and deeply community-minded. Homes sit close to parks and playgrounds, and you’ll often see families walking their dogs after dinner. A three-bedroom rental in this neighborhood typically costs between $2,000 and $2,300 per month, though many parents who move here end up staying long-term because of how connected the community feels.
While Hampton doesn’t boast celebrity alumni, its legacy runs quietly through the city. Former students can be found across the local fire department, small businesses, and teaching positions within the district. Several alumni even have children now enrolled at the same school proof that good experiences last long after report cards fade.

Being Updated
In October 2025, Hampton Elementary hosted its “Hands-On Harvest Fair,” turning the playground into a blend of science and fun. Kids learned about plant growth, measured soil pH in the school garden, and sampled locally grown apples. The event wrapped up with a food drive organized by the student council, an idea sparked by a fourth grader who wanted to “help other families before winter.”
